Selling FAQ
1. How does Clinic Sales maintain confidentiality?
Clinic Sale values our clients’ confidentiality by not disclosing the practice name or address of any clinic in the marketing of a practice. We only provide practice details to potential buyers that we know, that have registered with us by way of photo ID and signed our confidentiality agreement.
2. How quickly will my practice sell?
Clinic Sales understands our clients have diverse reasons for sale and endeavour to customise the approach of sale. It is difficult to predict a time frame on the sales process as it depends strongly on;
- Your expectations of price and terms, and
- The number of buyers looking in your location at that particular time
As Clinic Sales is the only specialist GP clinic sales agent in Australia, we guarantee to sell your practice for the best price, in the most efficient and ethical manner, allowing you a smooth transition.
3. What is the process for selling my practice?
- Register your interest by completing the 30 second seller registration form on the website (all information is confidential) or call Chris Wilson on 0478 577 355 for an obligation-free initial discussion about what you would like to achieve in transitioning out of your practice.
- Arrange a detailed meeting/discussion with your Clinic Sales broker to discuss the sales process, your needs, practice financials and subsequently develop an agreed strategy for sale.
- Engage Clinic Sales to represent you in sourcing a buyer and negotiating a successful outcome by signing an Engagement Agreement
- Provide all practice details to Clinic Sales via the Clinic Disclosure Statement form. Following liaison with your accountant we will draft the Information Memorandum and finalise the listing price.
- Market your practice by confidential offer to our database of Active Buyers and advertise your ‘masked’ practice on numerous industry specific platforms to find a suitable buyer.
- Negotiate the Sale Terms and Price and solicit offers with deposit from genuine purchasers (Deposits held in audited Trust Accounts)
- Complete the contract, manage the due diligence process and finally, settle the sale.
4. A recruitment agency has offered to try & sell my practice, should I list my business with them?
Recruitment agencies are great at finding jobs for Doctors. Doctors who are looking for a job are generally not the same people looking to buy a practice. Recruitment agencies have databases of Doctor’s wanting jobs, not specialised databases of prospective clinic owners. By listing your practice for sale with a recruitment agency, it is likely your valuable time will be wasted with non-committed buyers, and you may not achieve the best terms with a small pool of buyers. Some recruitment agencies currently selling practices are not even licensed to sell clinics which may have legal implications.
5. My broker says he is a specialist medical broker, how can I check?
Google “broker name business broker”. If they are currently marketing Retail, Manufacturing, Food/Beverage businesses, or promote themselves as specialists in multiple industries, quite simply they are not experts in the GP market. As you know the GP industry is a rapidly changing sector, with prospective federal government policies influencing the market of practice sales. Generalist brokers are less informed about ever changing GP regulations, which may result in your valuable time being wasted with unqualified buyers.
